JRN 200 Assignment-2, Post-1

Having a job while being a student has its’ positive and negative attributions. A 10 to 20 hour a week job can impact college students’ social and academic lives. Students with jobs must work to improve their time-management skills while maintaining good grades. It may be difficult for many students to accomplish this while enrolled in 12 to 18 credits of classes. Some students may work under a work study to pay for their tuition and some may work just to get some extra cash for their pockets. Many may work so that they can afford to live in a house or apartment versus living in the dorms. Various places for students to work while living on the Michigan State University campus are Sparty's Refresh, Starbucks, a retail store on Grand River Ave., at a cafeteria or a resident's hall desk. It is important for students to take into account the time commitment when signing up for a job.  It may be difficult to keep grades up, have extracurricular activities and maintain s healthy social life.
